The Komondor mop dog, also known as the Hungarian shepherd, is a strong guardian and a beloved pet for experienced owners. Their calm and quiet behavior, until they sense danger and take action, fearlessly protect their home and loved ones.
The white fur, with fringes running down the sides of the body, makes this breed the most recognizable in the world. Their unique fur is unmistakable. Since the Komondor is a herding breed, its feathers protect it from extreme temperatures and allow it to blend in with the herd.
But unlike the fluffy white puppies, the Komondor is very large and muscular. They are strong, loyal and independent. They need a leader to train and care for them, otherwise they will become disobedient pets.

Characteristics of the Komondor dog
An ancient breed, the Komondor are originally from Hungary. Experts believe that the breed is descended from Caucasian shepherds and brought there by nomadic travelers in the century. XIII. This breed was revered in Hungary and used for many centuries as a protector – not a shepherd – of flocks of sheep. Their long white fur allows them to blend in with curly sheep and surprise predators.
The American Kennel Club recognized this breed in 1937. It was almost exterminated during World War II, only a few dozen dogs survived. The breed has just been re-established in Hungary, but is still quite rare.
A jumping Komondor appears on the cover of American musician Beck’s 1996 album Odelay. Since the album was released, that image has become one of the most recognizable album covers of all time.

Komondors are not known for being a low maintenance breed. Their fringe hair requires special care, regular exercise, and reliance on a strong leader when it comes to training.
